2024 Belmont Community Association Board
Taylor Jones, Vice President
[email protected] Taylor continues a second year as Vice President of the Belmont Community Association (BCA) Board. In addition, he's stepping up to perform President duties this year, together with Susan, while we continue to recruit for the President role. What do you hope to achieve for the neighborhood this year? I hope to further engage with those living in the Belmont community and work toward positive change as our community grows and evolves. What was a memorable community moment for you? The launch of Polevolt in our community being the second of its kind in the entire U.S. and happening right here in Belmont was awesome. |
Susan Lohr, Treasurer and Secretary
[email protected] Susan continues in this role, in addition to taking on the role of Treasurer in 2023 and performing President duties with Taylor in 2024. What do you hope to achieve for the neighborhood this year? In 2024, I would like to see a growing involvement by residents and a growing sense of community. What was a memorable community moment for you? Several years ago (2017 I think), a grant funded an effort called Better Block that provided a vision of what Belmont Avenue would look like as our "main street". It was a fun afternoon and seeing much of that vision come to life has been exciting. |
Mariam Abdul Hamid, Communications
[email protected] Mariam continues a second year attempting to navigate the world of social media. What do you hope to achieve for the neighborhood this year? It would be great to hear the people's voice. I'd love to be able to share their stories with others in the neighborhood and beyond. |
Savannah Self, Social
[email protected] Savannah continues her second year with more plans for exciting, engaging social events for our diverse community to have fun together. What do you hope to achieve for the neighborhood this year? I enjoy the close-knit feel of our neighborhood. Belmont is home to wonderful businesses and residents, some who've been here for decades and some who are new to the neighborhood. I want to help bring people together through fun, social events. |
Joe O'Connell, Fundraising & Grants
[email protected] Joe joined the Board late 2023 and has been focused on the Neighborhood Matching Grant. What do you hope to achieve for the neighborhood this year? We're working towards getting street toppers and Greenway signs installed with the Belmont Community logo. I'm also looking forward to the monthly events. What was a memorable community moment for you? Leading groups of kids from both the Hawthorne Academy and Piedmont Middle schools in volunteer neighborhood clean-ups. |
Ilesha Patel, Land Use
[email protected] Ilesha recently renewed her term in this role and was pivotal in getting the crosswalks installed at Belmont and Seigle. What do you hope to achieve for the neighborhood this year? I want to help steer changes in our built environment to be a positive experience for everyone and one that benefits all individuals that reside in this neighborhood. |
Joanna Crowder, Quality of Life
[email protected] Joanna joins the Board this year and is looking forward to getting the community together for the neighborhood cleanups. What do you enjoy most about living in Belmont? My husband and I moved to Charlotte AND the Belmont neighborhood 4.5 years ago from Chicago. The vibe of Belmont, the close proximity to other cool neighborhoods, and the great access to the Greenway and open space drew us to call Belmont our home in NC! What motivated you to join the BCA Board? I truly enjoy living here in Belmont and have realized how important of a role the community association plays in making this a neighborhood that people want to live in and feel safe in. After attending the holiday potluck in December and talking about the open positions with other current Board members, I was encouraged to submit my application. I started in my role about a month ago and am already enjoying the increased exposure to and socialization with members of the Belmont neighborhood. |
